The perfect day...
I have had the best day doing nothing. Brittany and I decided to wait until tomorrow to go to Colca which was a genius of a decision. I spent my morning watching Melrose Place and Gilmore Girls in our hostel, then wandering around, got a bus for Cusco thursday night, had an amazing lunch, found a hostel for when we get back, walked around the plaza and enjoyed a cafe con leche and a strawberry milkshake on the roof of a building over looking the goregous plaza.
Arequipa is soo much nicer than Cusco. It actually looks like a real city, not a jumble of chaos. People are dressed nicely, and they appear to actually go to work, unlike the people of Cusco who I´m not sure what it is they do all day or where they work. And the best part is it isn´t touristy at all and NO ONE hassles you 5 million times as you walk down the street. You do get more odd looks because there are less tourists here but I´d take that over the other anyday.
We bought some popcorn on the street and are going to go back to our room, eat popcorn and watch a crappy movie on TV. I love these perfect lazy days, we didn´t really do anything but it was good. We did go see a 500 year old frozen mummy which was really cool and really creepy at the same time. She still had a full head of hair. She was a Inca sacrifice, they just beat the kid over the head and left them in the ground to please the gods.
The only thing that wasn´t so hot about today was that I was 5 minutes too late for the international book store which is now closed until thursday. But I have all thursday to myself in the city before my 8:30 bus back to Cusco. I splurged and got a Cruz del Sur bus, for 10 hours its just imperative that I have a meal and a washroom. I just hope I´ll be able to sleep or it will be a very long trip all alone.
