First experience outside Cusco
So after my first sucessful week in Cusco, a group of us took a day trip on Saturday which was absolutely amazing. We got picked up at 5am, which was an experience in its own, and first stopped in this small village where they make the terracotta tiles for the roofs. I really liked that, it was cool to see them at work, and nice to start to see the Peru that exists outside of Cusco. After that we drove along and visited the 4 lakes of Cusco, which after the first one all kinda blended into each other but it was still beautiful with the massive mountains and the water. And all the vacas wandering around the fields, so cute. After that we continued driving some more past small villages, the guide explaining the historical stuff. I´m beginning to understand more and more so I guess the lessons are paying off that way but my own spanish hasnt improved immensly so far. We stopped at the guide lady´s house for breakfast which was a nice touch. But the bathroom there was an experience in its own. A stylish hole in the ground with two raised steps for your feet. There was toliet paper though so that was a bonus. We finally made it to the location we were driving towards, this bridge made of reeds, it has a name but I can´t and won´t spell it. It was amazing though. A bit terrifying with holes and gaps in the 250meter long bridge thats 50 meters above this river. Because its made of reeds it moved around with any shift of your weight and your foot would sink into the reeds but making it across was very rewarding. They say making it across the bridge is supposed to symbolize overcoming great challenges and difficulties in your life. After that we went to this cave. It was the first time I´ve done anything like that and loved it!
I will write more when I get back to Cusco because this internet cafe is expensive and everyone else is already done. Adios!
